Watershed conditions statement issued for our broadcast area

The forecast for the rest of the week will make the region prime for flooding, according to the province.

A Watershed Conditions Statement has been issued for Prescott and the South Nation Watershed by the Surface Water Monitoring Centre of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry. Around 25 millimetres of rain and snow are predicted across the region. In addition, the Ministry predicts that around 150 millimeters of rain is stored in the snowpack in parts of central and eastern Ontario.

As a result, the Ministry predicts elevated runoff for the rest of the week, bringing higher levels of water throughout the region’s rivers and lakes. They predict that some local watercourses could be overwhelmed, leading to localized flooding.
