Be careful if you plan to spend any time walking near a body of water in the region on the weekend.
South Nation Conservation says it’s issuing a “flood outlook statement”, meaning there’s an increased chance for minor flooding over the next few days.
It says you should be extremely cautious around any streams, ponds, or other bodies of water, since the ground nearby may be more slippery than normal.
If you live in a low lying area, it says you should also make sure your sump pump is working correctly and that you have a backup generator and pump handy if the power goes out.
Anything you have outside that could float away in the event of a flood should also be secured.
The statement is in effect until Tuesday at 5:00 PM.
