Leeds-Grenville “Climate Day of Action” demonstration scheduled for March 12th

Two climate activism groups are sponsoring an event in Brockville to promote a move to 100 percent renewable energy.

“Climate Day of Action for a Just Transition” demonstrations are being held in places across the country, for Canadians to show support for a “just transition” away from fossil fuels.

They’re being sponsored by 350.org, an international organization that’s been calling for an end to fossil fuels since 2007, and the Council of Canadians, a nonprofit that advocates for clean water and green energy.

The local demonstration for the Leeds-Grenville region is being organized by a volunteer, Phil Dawes. “Our communities are experiencing the growing impact of extreme climate change,” he says. “The fossil fuel era is ending. It’s 2022 and there is no time to waste.”

If you’re interested in attending the local event, it’s being held outside the south entrance of the Brockville Railway Tunnel on March 12th, at 11:30 AM.
