Two students from the Upper Canada District School Board have been appointed to serve on the Minister’s Student Advisory Council. Their role is to help the Minister of Education to find ways to enhance student wellbeing at schools across the province. Doch Dendy of TISS and Morgan MacPherson of Glengarry District High School already serve as advocates for students in their respective schools. They will recommend several ways to improve student wellbeing including: improving supports for student mental health, enhancing special education programming so all students can be successful at school, making schools more inclusive for the LGBTQ community, and ensuring schools are more accepting of Aboriginal rights and culture.
