More than 3,000 more people are living in the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville than in 2016. That number comes from last year’s census, which was conducted in May.
The data says 3,543 more people are living in the United Counties than when the last census was conducted in 2016, an increase of 3.5 per cent. Almost every single municipality within the region saw their populations grow, with North Grenville seeing the most significant change, a 9.4 per cent population increase. The populations of Westport, Edwardsburgh-Cardinal and Rideau Lakes also grew by more than 5 per cent each.
Meanwhile, some municipalities saw their populations shrink compared to 2016. Prescott saw the most significant decline, with 3.4 per cent less people than five years earlier. The Townships of Elizabethtown-Kitley and Front of Yonge also saw their populations decrease, by less than one per cent each.
