You’ll be able to vote online or over the phone in the next municipal election.
At this week’s council meeting, the Town of Prescott passed a by-law, allowing an agreement between the Town and Intelivote Systems. The Nova Scotia-based company will be providing the infrastructure for electronic voting this year.
According to the agreement, voters will be sent a PIN number as well as a letter from Intelivote explaining how the process works. During the voting period, residents will be able to call a voting number or visit a voting website, enter their PIN number, and cast their ballot.
You’ll be able to use the electronic voting system from October 17th to the 24th. If you’d rather not vote electronically, mail-in ballots will still be available, and you’ll be able to vote in person at polling stations on Election Day, October 24th.
