As a convoy of over 500 vehicles makes its way to Ottawa the OPP is warning motorists to avoid highways leading to the Nation’s Capital. In a Tweet, the East Region OPP warn motorists to avoid travel on Highways 416 & 417 Friday afternoon and Saturday. If you do have to travel, they are warning you to expect major delays.

Meanwhile, Kingston Police report about 551 vehicles travelled through the city earlier Friday. The Freedom Convoy is expected to begin to arrive in Ottawa Friday night. The convoy of trucks and big-riggers are opposed to the federal government’s vaccine mandate for cross-border truckers among other health restrictions. They will be joined by a convoy of trucks coming from both Western and Eastern Canada.
