There may be some delays on Highway 401 and Highway 416 later this week.
“Freedom Convoy 2022,” a convoy of truckers from all across Canada protesting the federal vaccine mandate for truck drivers, is reaching its final destination in Ottawa on Saturday.
Truckers moving with the convoy from southern Ontario will be leaving from Kingston on Highway 401, at 8:30 AM, driving to a Spencerville truck stop and stopping for an hour. Afterwards, the truckers will depart again at 11:00 in the morning on the 416, towards Ottawa.
Elsewhere, truckers will be driving towards Ottawa from places like Cornwall, Arnprior, and Vankleek. The drivers are expected to arrive at Parliament Hill at noon.
The Canadian Trucking Alliance is denouncing the protest, saying drivers should be complying with public health requirements.
It adds the vast majority of truckers are vaccinated in line with levels seen in the general public.
