Winchester District Memorial Hospital recognized for patient safety and quality of patient care

Cholly Boland, the Chief Executive Officer of Winchester District Memorial Hospital (WDMH), says he’s proud of his team and glad they’re being recognized for the work they do. The hospital has received “Accreditation with Exemplary Standing” from Accreditation Canada, a national healthcare assessment organization.

“In the midst of COVID-19, this is some positive news,” Boland says. “We have exceeded national standards for patient safety and quality of patient care.”

The organization’s process for accrediting WDMH involved site surveys, interviews with staff and patients, and a self-assessment from the hospital. The assessment was conducted over three days in November.

This is the third year in a row the hospital has received this honor from Accreditation Canada. According to the organization, WDMH meets or exceeds more than 99 per cent of national standards.
