Clark supports changes to Conservation Act on cormorants

Steve Clark has been trying to get action from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry to deal with the damage the double-crested cormorant is causing to the environment. The Leeds Grenville MPP is welcoming the passage of Bill 205, calling it a positive step forward.

The Private Member’s Bill would change the 1997 Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act  to allow hunting and trapping of double-crested cormorants. It passed second reading last Thursday with all-party support. Clark says the true test of the government’s commitment on the issue will be how quickly it acts to get the bill into committee and provide the public with the opportunity to comment.
