Gord Brown is re-elected MP of Leeds Grenville, Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes

The Liberals may have won a majority government but in Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes, we are still seeing blue. The incumbent Gord Brown has been re-elected for the fourth time in our riding, with 48% of the vote.

Local Liberal candidate Mary Jean McFall came in second with 40%. NDP candidate Margaret Andrade was in third place with just over 8% and Green Party candidate Lorraine Rekmans came in last with 3.7% of the vote.

Brown commented on speculation that Stephen Harper may be quitting as leader of the PC party.

Brown says although Harper may do some thinking about who should lead the party in the near future, at the moment they are focused on being the Official Opposition.
