South Grenville Food Bank, CSE Consulting partner for “Lunch Kit” program

The South Grenville Food Bank has started a new program to help locals with new jobs struggling to afford food before their first paycheck. The “Lunch Kit” program, in partnership with local employment agency CSE Consulting, provides meals to employees starting new jobs for the first few weeks, so they can focus their money on other expenses.

“When you’re starting a new job, and everything is so stressful,” says Bonnie Pidgeon Coogler, the Food Bank’s Executive Director, “why should you worry about whether or not you’re gonna eat for two weeks until your paycheck comes in? We collaborated with CSE Consulting, and we’re able to provide people with those necessities, to get you through your lunch and your breaks.”

Despite the partnership with CSE Consulting, Coogler says the program isn’t exclusive to CSE clients. “It’s available to anyone,” Coogler says, “and if they don’t want to go through CSE, for whatever reason, they can contact the Food Bank.”

Coogler says the food bank is accepting cash donations from people who want to contribute to the program. She also says the program is currently only running until the end of December, but that if enough people support the program, the Food Bank hopes to continue it into 2022.
