OPP charge 981 people with seatbelt infractions over two weeks

Despite public safety awareness campaigns, there are still a number of people in our region who do not buckle up their seatbelts. Between September 23^rd and October 9^th, East Region OPP officers investigated six personal injury collisions where improper seatbelt use was to blame. And during those two weeks, 981 people were charged with failing to wear a seatbelt or to ensure that passengers under the age of 16 were safely buckled up.
