Leeds Grenville MPP Steve Clark presented our petition to Queen’s Park yesterday, asking the provincial government to say “no” to the closure of our local Service Ontario office.
Clark cited a number of businesses that deal with the Service Ontario office daily. He said changes to their access would bring additional expenses to their auto dealerships.
In addition, seniors and young families with no computer access or transportation would be stranded. Clark also said the provincial government has offered no explanation of business case for the sudden decision to close a number of Service Ontario locations in communities like ours.
A total of 8,600 signatures have been presented. Clark made the petition and thanked community members, OPSEU and the Municipality of North Grenville for organizing the campaign.
The Kemptville location of Service Ontario is slated for closure February 2017.
