MPP Steve Clark announces 2+ million dollar government investment into Leeds-Grenville hospitals, healthcare infrastructure

The Ontario government is spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to improve healthcare in our community.

In an announcement October 5th, Steve Clark, the MPP for Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes, announced the government is investing more than two million dollars into Leeds-Grenville healthcare infrastructure. The money is going towards hospitals the Brockville General Hospital, Kemptville District Hospital and Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital. An additional 68 thousand dollars is also being invested into Lanark, Leeds and Grenville Addictions and Mental Health.

“These hospitals and health-care facilities,” says Clark, “and the people working there have gone far beyond the call of duty during this pandemic to ensure that the patients and families in our community receive the high-quality care they deserve. These investments are just another step in the Ontario government’s commitment to support hospitals and healthcare facilities across the province.”

The money being given to the hospitals comes from the 175 million dollar Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund, and the money given to Lanark, Leeds and Grenville Addictions and Mental Health comes from the 7.6 million dollar Community Infrastructure Renewal Fund. Nick Vlacholias, President and CEO of the Brockville General Hospital, says that its 956 thousand dollar share of the funding will be put towards upgrading the building’s facilities and improving its infection safety measures.
