South Nation Conservation announces “Remembering the Children” ceremony in Shanly October 14th

A public Truth and Reconciliation ceremony is being organized near Prescott.

South Nation Conservation (SNC), in partnership with the Mohawks of Akwesasne, the Algonquin First Nations, and a number of sponsors, are organizing a ceremony to mourn victims of residential schools and to celebrate Indigenous Culture. The “Remember the Children” event is set to take place in a public greenspace called “The Healing Place” in Shanly, on the traditional land of the Algonquin and Mohawk Nations.

During the ceremony, trees will be planted within the greenspace, and a children’s garden will also be created. A number of guest speakers will also be at the event to share their stories.

Pre-registration is required to participate, and the deadline to register is October 12th. The event is scheduled for October 14th, beginning at 10:00 AM. A livestream of part of the ceremony will be aired on the SNC Facebook page. Visit SNC’s website to register.
