Hockey Eastern Ontario urging members to get vaccinated before season start

With hockey registration across the region ramping up, the governing body for hockey in Eastern Ontario wants players, coaches, team officials and on-ice officials to get vaccinated.

Hockey Eastern Ontario (HEO) is urging their eligible members to get COVID-19 shots before returning to the ice for the 2021-2022 season. In a release, the governing body is urging members to take this step so that hockey can return to how it was pre-pandemic, with five-on-five hockey games, body checking and travel allowed.

HEO says they have been talking with Hockey Canada about looking into having vaccination as a requirement for participating in their programs. They say they will keep member organizations updated on what they will decide.
