Sylvia van Campen re-elected as ETFO provincial executive

The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) has re-elected its Upper Canada provincial Executive. Sylvia van Campen, who was first elected in 2019, will continue her work with the ETFO until 2023.

“The past two years have presented us with one of the biggest education disruptions in history,” van Campen said in a press release Wednesday. “The pandemic, and a government with an agenda of privatizing education and funding cuts, requires action.”

Van Campen began teaching after graduating from the University of Toronto in 1995. She began her career as a special education teacher with Neuralink Educational Services and the Centre for Traumatic Brain Injury Rehabilitation. Today, she’s an occasional teacher for the Upper Canada District School Board.

The ETFO is a union representing 83,000 teachers, early childhood educators and occasional teachers across Ontario.
