Over 6,000 signatures have been added to petitions in various outlets around town over the past month, asking the provincial government to Keep Service Ontario in Kemptville. If you haven’t signed it yet you will get one more chance on Sunday, when petition organizers will host a rally in the parking lot at the Kemptville Canadian Tire.
A BBQ is being held for Canadian Tire’s Jumpstart organization on that day as well. OPSEU Regional VP Gareth Jones, responsible for the employees of our local Service Ontario office, says OPSEU Local 434 will be matching all funds raised that day.
Leeds Grenville MPP Steve Clark will also be on hand to say a few words, and to collect petitions. He will then take the petitions to Queen’s Park, where he will speak on our behalf to request the local Service Ontario office be kept open.
The “Keep Service Ontario in Kemptville” Rally happens Sunday, May 29th at 1:00pm at Canadian Tire Kemptville.
