Funding Announced To Help Complete Waterfront Development Project In Edwardsburgh/Cardinal

Residents in Edwardsburgh/Cardinal can now enjoy the scenic views along the St. Lawrence River.

On Thursday, MP for Leeds, Grenville, Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes Michael Barrett and MPP Steve Clark announced $100,000 in funding to help complete a waterfront development project through the Investing In Canada Infrastructure Program.

Mayor for the township Pat Sayeau says the project includes the completed construction of a 450 meter multi-use path along the waterfront.

“I’ve been there several times during construction and this week, and every time I go I see at least two parties walking on the pathways,” Sayeau said. “It’s really turning out to be a popular addition.”

The path also connects to the trail constructed as part of the project’s first phase, which Sayeau says will expand the overall path to 900 metres.

The waterfront development also includes some new park benches and landscaping to enjoy the scenic views of the St. Lawrence River.

Sayeau says the project will help improve accessibility in the area.

“It will increase the types of outdoor activities people can enjoy in the area and it will improve the quality of life for not just people in our community, but tourists who come down from the Ottawa area,” Sayeau said.

More information on the project can be found on the Township’s website.
