Volunteers are needed for Augusta Township’s Pitch In Day on July 3rd.
Matthijs Vanderveen is the Community Development & Recreation Coordinator and he says they are looking for help with cleaning up litter through their volunteer roadside clean-up program.
“A lot of people think they can beautify our lovely ditches with their garbage,” Vanderveen said. “Unfortunately, that’s not a pleasure to everyone’s eyes, which is why we are organizing this.”
Volunteers can start as early as they want, and bags can be dropped in the special bin at the Maynard Recreation Centre.
Vanderveen says the goal is to beautify the township, and give volunteers a sense of accomplishment by cleaning up their local streets, parks, and neighbourhoods.
“We’re hoping for a nice and sunny day where everyone can participate,” Vanderveen said. “If we all work together, we can make our township look more clean and beautiful.”
