An 18-year-old man has died after a police chase south of Smiths Falls. It happened around 8:20pm last Thursday.
Leeds County OPP officers saw a vehicle speeding on County Road 17 and began their pursuit. A short time later they found the vehicle had crashed on Kitley Line 2 near Rice Road with a lone male driver inside. He died while being taken to hospital.
The Special Investigations Unit has invoked their mandate, as in any fatal incident case that involves the police.
