House Of Commons Scuffle

Some political pundits are calling it the worst day in the leadership of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau so far.

A near full blown fight broke out in the House of Commons yesterday, and the PM was at the center of it. According to witnesses – and footage caught on the chamber camera, Official Opposition Whip and Leeds Grenville MP Gord Brown was trying to make his way to his seat for the vote on physician-assisted dying when his path was blocked by a group of people, including NDP leader Thomas Mulcair. That was when Prime Minister Trudeau decided to intervene, which involved grabbing Brown by the arm and leading him through the crowd to his seat. In the scuffle, Trudeau inadvertently elbowed a female NDP Minister in the chest. A shouting match then broke out between Mulcair and the PM which needed to be broken up in a hurry & ended with the PM apologizing for his actions.

After things had settled a bit, MP Brown tweeted, “I told the PM to let go of me.” and so far Thomas Mulcair has called the PM’s actions “unparalleled” in Canadian history.
