UCDSB prepares for new full-day kindergarten curriculum

The Upper Canada District School Board is preparing to meet the demands of a new full day kindergarten curriculum this September. Studies suggest attending full-day programming in kindergarten increases overall reading, writing and math grades by five per cent for students in Grade 1.

Board representatives believe the new program will help children to develop a sense of belonging and build a foundation for growth in their literacy, mathematics, and problem-solving skills. The curriculum also encourages innovative thinking and curiosity about learning. More than 3,200 UCDSB students are enrolled in the program for the coming school year.
