OPP and Crisis Team work together to promote mental health

Leeds County OPP and Brockville General Hospital Mental Health Crisis Team have joined forces to help members in the community with mental illness. The OPP and Mental Health Crisis Team joint effort has been running in Leeds County since May of 2014.   The program is run as a Ride Along program.

An officer with Leeds County O.P.P. and one of two designated crisis staff of the Brockville General Hospital Mental Health team who are regulated health care professionals, conduct a ride along in an unmarked police cruiser seeing people in the community with mental illness.

The focus of the program is to ensure people that are seen by the team are connected with proper services in their community to assist them and reduce their contact with police. For more information, contact Provincial Constable Judy King, at 613 659 5200 or Mental Health Crisis Team at 613 345 4600 or 1 866 281 2911.
