Monday about 7:45 am., Brockville Police received a call about a young bear in the back yard of a residence on King Street East.Police contacted the Ministry of Natural Resources who sent four of their employees and a tranquilizer gun to the area. The bear was hit with the dart from the gun but it didn’t make a solid contact, so the bear left the scene.
The animal was followed north from the area until visual contact was lost in the wooded area at the north end of Oxford Avenue. Schools in the area have been advised of the event. Ministry officials remained in the area for the afternoon, in the event of further sightings.
