MP Gord Brown urges Leeds Grenville residents to donate to Red Cross for Alberta

Many Canadians are expressing a desire to help the residents of Fort McMurray who have been evacuated due to a raging wildfire this week. Leeds Grenville MP Gord Brown says the best way to contribute to the relief effort is to make a donation to the Canadian Red Cross.

You can visit www.redcross.ca and donate online, or you can donate by text message on your mobile phone. Just enter 30333 as the phone number, no area code required, and then enter the single word REDCROSS as the message. You will be prompted to confirm your donation of $5 before sending.

The government will be matching the donations to double the relief being sent. Alberta has declared a state of emergency as an estimated 90,000 people have been displaced from their homes.
