Environment Canada Calling For Heavy Snowfall Over The Weekend

Environment Canada has upgraded its special weather statement to a snowfall warning for Brockville, Leeds and Grenville.

The warning is in effect for Prescott, Brockville, Merrickville, Wolford and Kemptville – with a potentially heavy snowfall event forecasted for this weekend.

Snow is expected to begin this evening and into Saturday morning – with a strong low pressure system approaching Eastern Ontario from New England.

The weather agency says a mixture of freezing rain, ice pellets and snow will arrive tonight – with more snow all through Saturday.

The snow will taper off to scattered flurries late Saturday night.

The weather agency says 15 to 25 cm are possible by Saturday

It also says hazardous winter driving conditions are expected from this snowstorm and drivers are encouraged to change travel plans accordingly.

Environment Canada adds that highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery and they advise drivers to slow down and drive according to conditions.
