Traffic Stop in Augusta Township Leads to Firearm Charges

A traffic stop conducted by Grenville OPP has lead to cannabis and firearm charges.

The stop was conducted on December 23rd on County Road 18. Police say that after speaking to the driver, they determined that cannabis was readily available. A search of the vehicle revealed a 22-caliber rifles was in the car. Both cannabis and firearm were seized by police.

OPP say that a 27-year-old from Cardinal has been charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, driving a vehicle with cannabis readily available, driving without proper headlights and failing to surrender an insurance card. He is scheduled to appear in the Court of Justice in Brockville in Febuary.
