Prescott’s visioning survey available until Friday

You still have time to take part in the Town of Prescott’s visioning survey.

The survey is to help with review of the town’s Official Plan. Dana Valentyne, Economic Development Officer, says the plan is an important document to the community.

“It basically creates a vision for the next 20 years and it’s utilized by council and approval committees when they make decisions when it comes to any sort of land development proposals that are coming through the community. This is really the guiding document that helps them make those approval decisions.”

Valentyne says the plan looks at strategic objectives, residential land usage, retail, office, industrial, parkland, national and cultural heritage features and identifying new infrastructure.

The plan was originally done in 2006 with an update made in 2018, according to Valentyne.

“So a lot of the content is really going back, you know like, 14 years. So it’s really timely with a lot of the changes that we’re seeing in planning act regulations and just the progressive ways that communities are looking at development.”

The survey can be found on the town’s website here.

Valentyne says so far over 100 people have responded and they’re hoping to get 200 responses by Friday. She says the survey isn’t just for residents, it’s for anyone who is interested in the town.

Valentyne also encourages anyone who received an email to complete the economic development visioning survey to complete that as well.
