Johnstown Plant Receives 2.5 Million Dollar Investment from Ontario Government

Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes MPP Steve Clark made a major announcement today regarding an Ontario Together Fund investment on behalf of the Hon. Vic Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade.

The Ontario Government is investing 2.5 million dollars through the Ontario Together Fund to support Greenfield Global’s 75 million dollar investment in their Johnstown plant.  The plant will produce medical-grade alcohol critical for making hand sanitizers for Ontarians.

MPP Steve Clark stated the Made In Ontario solution will remove the reliance on supply chains outside of Canada. “We’ve said right from day one that we don’t want to be beholden to foreign supply chains for some of our PPE.  This announcement will essentially have the highest grade of alcohol produced here at Johnstown so that we can have high quality hand sanitizer made not just for Eastern Ontario but for the whole country.”

Greenfield will undergo a major upgrade which when complete, will have the ability to produce 114 million litres of specialty medical-grade alcohol annually.  It will then be used to make hand sanitizer and other high alcohol based applications.  The upgrades will also bring 8 new jobs to the area.
