“100 Women Who Care” round out first year with another $10,000 raised

100 Women Who Care – Thousand Islands Chapter hosted their fourth meeting Tuesday night and raised more than $10,000. It may end up being closer to $11,000 once they have counted up all the contributions. This is the first time the fledgling fundraising group has surpassed $10,000.

The women in attendance voted on three submitted charities drawn from a hat. They included Fun With Books, Big Brothers Big Sisters and Sherwood Park Manor Long Term Care Residence, a non-profit nursing home. The majority vote by the women in attendance was for Sherwood Park Manor, so they are this month’s recipient of the funds raised. Since hosting their first meeting last June, 100 Women Who Care 1000 Islands has raised $36,000 for four area charities.
