Local security officer charged with personating a police officer

The Brockville Police Service (BPS) say in September a local security officer has been charged with personating a police officer.

Police received a public complaint about one of the BPS officers threatening to charge someone for blowing their car horn at him. Investigation revealed it was a local security officer that identified himself as a police officer threatening to charge the complainant. Officers located the security officer and charged him for breaching his probation and personating a police officer. Police say he will appear in court at a later date.

The BPS is asking if anyone with similar complaints about a security officer identifying themselves as police to contact them at 613-342-0127 extension 0 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
