Food drive for local food banks happening in early October

The Rotary Club of Brockville is getting ready for their annual food drive.

The food drive will be benefiting the South Grenville Food Bank and the Brockville and Area Food Bank. The food drive will happen from October 7th to 10th.

David LeSueur, food drive Co-Chair, says the 2020 Thanksgiving Rotary Food Drive is most important this year because of COVID-19. He says they’ve been helping the food bank in Brockville for over 25 years and have decided to include the South Grenville Food Bank this year.

LeSueur says any donations collected in South Grenville will stay in South Grenville. He says this year due to COVID, they are pushing for e-transfers. People who would like to donate online can go to the food banks websites.

In Prescott, donations can be dropped off at O’Reilly’s Independent Grocer, Giant Tiger, TD Bank and the South Grenville Food Bank during the food drive. In Brockville, donations can be dropped off at the Brockville Shopping Centre (the old LCBO), Superstore, RBC, Walmart, Giant Tiger, Food Basics, Metro, Brockville and Area Food Bank and TD Bank.

Fire halls in South Grenville will also accept donations on October 10th from 10am to 4pm.

LeSueur says their goal is 4,000 pounds of food and $15,000 cash.
