OPP seizes currency, illegal drugs and a firearm in Edwardsburgh-Cardinal

The OPP East Region Community Street Crime Unit has seized illegal drugs and a firearm at two locations in Edwardsburgh-Cardinal Township, and three people face charges.

Police say on Wednesday, members of the Street Crime Unit, assisted by the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, Emergency Response Team and OPP Canine Unit, executed search warrants at residences on Dundas Street and County Road 2.

Officers seized a quantity of suspected crystal methamphetamine, cocaine and counterfeit prescription pills, suspected to contain Fentanyl. They also seized a loaded 22-calibre handgun, ammunition, over $8000 in Canadian currency and other items typically associated with drug trafficking.

A 21-year-old of Edwardsburgh-Cardinal Township and a 17-year old female from South Dundas was charged with:

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Careless storage of a firearm, prohibited device or ammunition -two counts
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm

The 21-year-old has also been charged with:

  • Failure to comply with an undertaking – two counts
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking

A 55-year-old of Edwardsburgh-Cardinal Township was charged with Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Both adults were placed in custody with a bail hearing yesterday at Brockville court. The 17-year-old was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Brockville court in October.
