Fort Town Night Run looking for volunteers

Prescott’s Fort Town Night Run is looking for volunteers.

The event is taking place on September 26th, with the kids one kilometre fun run around Fort Wellington on the 27th.

Volunteer Coordinator Julie Larose says because the race has changed this year and spread throughout the day to allow for physical distancing, they need more volunteers than ever before.

“Volunteering is very simple. Most of the volunteers we need along the course just to direct runners to make sure that they go the right way and are able to troubleshoot any issues that the runners might have along the way.”

Larose adds people can bring a lawn chair if they need a sitting break and the event supplies gloves, mask and hand sanitizer to all volunteers. If people register in advance, they can get their position and minimize points of contact so volunteers can go to their positions the day of and supplies will be waiting for them there. Larose says they hope for volunteers that are 12 and older.

The Fort Town Night Run includes a five, 10 and 15 kilometre run through Prescott, with the 15 kilometre run course going out to the Port of Johnstown.

Registration takes place until September 23rd but to guarantee a t-shirt and medal runners will have to register by tomorrow.

The run donates to youth charities in the area.

Anyone looking to volunteer can fill out the form on the Fort Town Night Run website here or call 613-803-8989 for more details.
