Funding announced for Westminster Public School

Leeds Grenville, Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes MPP Steve Clark and Upper Canada District School Board Chair John McAllister have announced the Ontario government has given the Upper Canada District School Board approval for an addition to Westminster Public School.

According to a media release it is a $3.2 million investment that will improve the learning environment for students.  The project is part of the province’s capital investment program to support students with better learning spaces.

The addition and retrofit will include a gym, 25 new licensed child care spaces and two new child care rooms.

Clark says the funding for the addition and child care retrofit is great news for the community and something he knows students, school staff and parents have been waiting to hear.

“I’m pleased to make this announcement because I know this investment by our government is going to provide a quality learning environment and new opportunities for the children of Brockville.”

McAllister says the capital announcement a solid and needed economic investment in this community, and a commitment to public education and real support for parents, students and the quality of learning and teaching at Westminster Public School and in the Brockville area.
