New programs to support businesses announced in Prescott

The Town of Prescott Council has approved $25,000 to fund two programs.

The funding includes $15,000 to a new Small Business Grant (SBG) program, and $10,000 for the Prescott Proud Dollars Shop Local Rewards Program, according to Prescott.

Mayor Brett Todd says on behalf of the Town of Prescott Council and the Mayor’s Economic Recovery Task Force, they’re very pleased to announce these new programs in support of the local business community.

“Prescott’s businesses need our support more than ever; they’re the very heart of communities like ours, and we stand in solidarity with them during this challenging time.”

The SBG program was established to provide funding that has been required to make permanent business upgrades to meet public health and safety requirements, due to the COVID‐19 pandemic in town. Prescott will offer grants up to $350 in matching funding to individual businesses, to help cover costs associated with health and safety requirement upgrades. The Grenville Community Futures Development Corporation (GCFDC) is supporting Prescott with this program, by administering the funds on behalf of the Town. Applications are due by July 31st at 4:00pm and can be submitted by email to [email protected]. More details about the program and the application form can be found here.

The Prescott Proud Dollars Shop Local Rewards Program is to encourage people to shop local and it supports Prescott businesses. Prescott is giving Prescott Proud Dollars to all participating businesses, for giveaway to loyal customers in exchange for making a purchase. More details about the program and a list of participating businesses can be found here.
