MyView Youth Film Festival winners announced

The grand prize winner of the MyView Youth Film Festival has been announced.

Mackenzie Ball of Kemptville won the grand prize of $1,000 from McGahey Insurance and Grenville Mutual Insurance. Her film is called Staying Connected and looks at the ways her community is remaining socially connected while staying physically distant in this pandemic.

The festival says the first runner up was Adam Yakimovich also from Kemptville for his film Isolation Adventures about the exploring new escapades he has discovered during his time outside the classroom. Second runner up was Luke Gardiner from Brockville with the Toxic Relationships | Kids Help Phone film about peer pressure and bullying around substance use. The third runner up was Zoe Mainville from Ottawa with her film MyView on the Arts that looked at the value of exploring arts education.

MyView is an initiative that encourages youth to express themselves through film. Submissions are open for next year. Youth aged 10-24 are encouraged to start planning their films for MyView 2021. More information can be found on MyView’s website here.
