The season of the tick has returned to Leeds Grenville

The Leeds Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit wants the public to be aware that tick season has begun. As temperatures rise above 4 degrees during the day, we need to be aware of ticks and the potential to contract lyme disease.

Advice includes wearing light coloured clothing as this will make it easier to see ticks. Always do a tick check when you return from the woods or long grass. Putting your clothes in a hot dryer can help to kill ticks. If a tick has been on you for longer than 24 hours, or you have a bulls-eye rash, headache, joint pain or fever, contact your doctor immediately.
