Additional provincial funding going towards wide range of services in Leeds and Grenville

Funding from Ontario is being used for a wide range of services and supports for vulnerable populations in the area.

A special United Counties of Leeds and Grenville Council Meeting was held yesterday.

A media release says the Social Services Emergency Relief Fund will see additional funding from the province totaling just over $1.5 million being used to allow the expansion of a wide range of services and supports for vulnerable populations. Funding will help to support services like food banks, charities and non-profits to help with the delivery of their critical services to those in need in the community, according to the release.

The release also says an additional amount will be administered through the Employment and Education Centre for individual applications to provide supports related to Covid-19. The establishment of a temporary social distancing centre for those facing precarious housing situations will also be supported by funds.
