County gets $1.55 million to support vulnerable residents

Food banks, shelters, emergency services, charities and non-profits throughout the region are getting a boost from the Province of Ontario. The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville will receive more than $1.55 million to support the community’s most vulnerable residents during the COVID-19 pandemic.

MPP Steve Clark made the announcement last week. The dollars are through the new $148 million Social Services Relief Fund.

Clark says the government has been clear that it will spare no expense to protect the health and safety of all Ontarians during this crisis. He noted that organizations in Leeds and Grenville are working around the clock to help high-risk families, individuals and homeless people.

“This funding will provide them with the resources they need to continue this critical work,” explained Clark.

The Counties will determine local needs and distribute the funding.
