Wide range of mental health services for children and youth now just a phone call away

Wellness Access for Youth (WAY) launched a new 800-line today.

Children and youth can access a wide range of mental health services by calling 1-866-741-1WAY (1929). The line is answered Monday to Friday, between 8:30am and 4:30pm, and Wednesdays until 7:00pm.

WAY, formerly known as the Mental Health and Addictions Health Hub, will connect children and youth to the help they need.

Lorena Crosbie, Executive Director of Children’s Mental Health of Leeds and Grenville (a founding WAY partner), says it’s normal to feel worried and overwhelmed during these uncertain times. She noted if you’re already experiencing mental health issues, they could be exacerbated by the events unfolding day by day.

WAY is a collaborative made up of service providers throughout the region, including Connect Youth and Parents’ Lifelines of Eastern Ontario.

Frank Vassallo, Kemptville District Hospital CEO, says access to a wide range of services is now just a phone call away. He noted children and youth and/or their families and caregivers just need to make one call, and WAY will connect them to the help they need.
