Teams from Perth and District Collegiate Institute took first and second place at the 2016 Regional Popsicle Stick Bridge Competition. The winning bridge was able to bear a load of 101 kilograms!
Organizers say the event allows students the opportunity to research, design and build their own bridges, and inspires students with the joy of engineering in hopes they will consider it in future as a career. Working in a team environment also develops important skills useful in both the school and in the world of work.
This year’s competition saw teams from Upper Canada District School Board schools in Perth, Smiths Falls, Brockville and Oxford Mills.
