Santa spreading smiles in Prescott

In this time of self-isolation, Santa Claus is hitting the streets to bring joy.

Kevin Hutt may not be the real Santa, but he certainly has the same spirit. The Prescott man, who dresses up as Santa every year for the town, aims to create hope for people who are struggling during the pandemic.

Hutt is sitting outside of his home, located at 292 King Street, in fine festive form every day between 1:00 and 3:00pm. He’s also dropping by people’s porches, to wave at kids from outside, and cheering on healthcare workers through the windows of hospitals and nursing homes.

Hutt noted that some people might be asking why Santa is out in April, but if it gets their minds off what’s happening in the world, then it’s worth it to him. He explained he’s there for people driving by and doesn’t encourage people to go out unless they absolutely need to.

Hutt started the initiative on Tuesday and plans to keep it going until restrictions tighten up and he’s forced to stay inside his home.
