Brockville says it will suspend transit if abuse of system continues

The City of Brockville is blowing the whistle on non-essential use of its transit system.

A press release was sent out by the city this morning, stating that reports back from staff indicate that there continues to be a number of people abusing the service, including people who appear to be riding the bus out of boredom or to go out for coffee.

The city says it’s imperative that the community recognizes the seriousness of this public health crisis and that people act accordingly.

Continued abuse of the transit system will result in its suspension, according to the press release.

The city noted that the service can only continue if it’s safe to do so and many residents rely on public transit as their only way to get the essentials that they need.

All citizens are asked to stay home, if possible, and only use transit when it’s absolutely necessary.
