Travellers must head straight home: MPP Steve Clark

MPP Steve Clark is reminding people returning from abroad to go into self-isolation. His riding encompasses border towns, including Prescott and Brockville. Thousands of people have been making their way back home from the United States in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Clark posted the following message to Facebook on Sunday: ‘Disturbed to see returning travellers irresponsibly stopping to shop locally. I’m working with officials to stop this serious problem that puts people at risk. My message to those coming back to Canada is simple: Go straight home and stay there for 14 days! #StayAtHome #FlattenTheCurve.’

Clark says the government needs everyone’s cooperation to slow the spread of COVID-19. He noted that if you’re coming back into the country, you need to go home and self-isolate for two weeks.

Clark explained it’s critical that travellers not stop at the grocery store or anywhere else. He says people can work with their friends, families or neighbours to get essential provisions.

Clark noted this advice is coming directly from top health officials, including the Chief Medical Officer of Ontario.
