Prescott taking steps to ensure safety and health amid COVID-19 pandemic

Update: In a Facebook post, Mayor Brett Todd says after another meeting of the Prescott Emergency Management Committee today, the Town will be limiting town hall public interactions to appointment only. The doors at town hall will be locked, so people will need to call or email for service, which will be offered by a case-by-case basis depending on the urgency of the request. The phone number for town hall is 613-925-2812 and the email is [email protected].

Todd is also asking residents to stay home however possible and to practice the social distancing measures needed to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Currently there are no cases of the virus in Prescott.

Effective today, all Town recreational programming and facility rentals will cease for the immediate future, including Walker House and the Prescott Public Library. Town Hall will remain open, but they are asking anyone requiring assistance with Town related matters to call 613-925-2812, extension 6220.

The Town says they will review these measures, as circumstances require. Prescott is also adding greater disinfectant practices at municipal facilities.

Mayor Brett Todd is asking the public to be very mindful of those vulnerable to this virus, especially the significant number of older people in our region.

“Limit travel where possible and limit attendance at larger gatherings of people especially those involving our more vulnerable citizens. Do what you can to minimize the spread of this virus and look out for those at risk.”

The Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit say the risk of exposure still remains low in the area.
