Kemptville hospital restricting visitors, cancelling clinics

The Kemptville District Hospital (KDH) is taking steps to mitigate the risk of COVID-19.

Restrictions have been placed on visiting patients and many non-acute outpatient clinics (specialist appointments) are cancelled until further notice.

The decisions were made with the safety of patients, families, staff, physicians and volunteers in mind, according to a press release sent out today.

Further measures include suspending volunteer services, along with cancelling all large group events, after-hour meetings and work-related travel.

CEO Frank Vassallo says he’s proud of the way KDH staff and physicians are pulling together to control and suppress the spread of COVID-19.

Entry points may also be monitored as the situation evolves. If you encounter locked doors while trying to access the hospital, use the ER entrance.

The public is advised to consult the Public Health Ontario website for up-to-date recommendations on screening, self-isolation, travel advice and public gatherings.

If you suspect you may have the virus, call your doctor or local Health Unit and follow their instructions.
