Coldest Night of the Year nets $15,000 and counting for Connect Youth

Dollars are still rolling in to address youth homelessness in the area. North Grenville held its inaugural Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) event on Saturday.

The fundraising walk brought in just shy of $15,000 and donations are still being collected until March 31. All proceeds from CNOY will benefit Connect Youth.

Organizer Craig McCormick says it’s a worthy cause. He noted Connect Youth runs three temporary shelters – in Kemptville, Prescott and Spencerville – for homeless youth. McCormick explained the organization goes above and beyond, by providing services and helping homeless youth get back on their feet.

The plan is to make CNOY an annual event in support of Connect Youth.

McCormick says between 150 and 175 people took part in the event this year, including walkers, volunteers and sponsors. He noted the success of CNOY is owing to everyone who participated.
